Clearly, the recently submitted
subdivisions do not represent the family’s vision of the farm.
They do not follow the land use plan we had developed for
preservation of the farm.
Submission of those plans was made necessary by the proposed passage
of a zoning ordinance that would devalue the farm 75 to 80 percent and
force us to sell off much larger parcels, impacting virtually all of
the farming operation, to satisfy the remainder of the indebtedness.
We submitted the plans as a last resort to preserve value and
to seek the leverage to eventually develop in clusters and villages,
as initially proposed.
This was the prudent course for us to take under the law
